1993 Pontiac SSEI 3.8L Engine Superchargers for Sale
From 1996 to 1999 Pontiac produced the eighth generation Bonneville with a supercharger. It was in 1993 to be exact. The engine family is called the ‘GM Buick V90’. The car was more than just a powerful V6 engine that propelled this boat anchor at speeds that made many large engines look sluggish.
This motor/car combo used bigger brakes, faster steering, heavier suspension and was designed to to be sportier than the average Bonneville.
Because the motor is not a big of an engine in displacement, it weighs less than a larger engine, thus making more power and saving weight. An idea Pontiac used before it’s time. Now we see more usage of turbos and superchargers in small cars, and light duty trucks to exact the benefits of smaller, lighter engines producing lots of well mannered horsepower.
As far as I’m concerned, and I’m old school for sure, I like the way a supercharger operates. My experience with a supercharged car is that when you hit the gas pedal, all of of sudden, with no warning, the car accelerates instantly like it had a rocket pushing it. It is very dramatic. Though, when the supercharger is not kicked in, you have a mild mannered economy engine.
The supercharger on the L67 engine, as it is known, uses a mdel M62 supercharger assembly. This is a series 2 engine because several internal components had to be strengthened to take the power of a supercharger. A super charger boost can be installed on any engine, it’s just that any engine may not take the extra power.
This particular engine was used in theses cars.
1. 1991 to 1995 Buick Park avenue Ultra
2. 1992 to 1995 Oldsmobile Ninety eight as an option
3. 1992 to 1995 Olds as an option
4. Buick riviera as an option.
